McMahon, Nocher Make Team

Leander's Sycerika McMahon aged 17  has became the third  Irish swimmer to qualify for the London Olympics in the 100m breaststroke  heats at the European Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, McMahon finished 2nd in a new Irish record time of 1:08.37  -  inside the London 2112 A standard.
In the final, McMahon swam a time of 1:08.72  -  less than a second  off bronze. Gold went to Germany's Sarah Poewe in 1:07.33.
Beijing Olympian Melanie Nocher also dipped under the Olympic A standard when she finished fifth in the 200m backstroke final. Her time of 2:10.75 set a new Irish record.
